Package Description

Mustang is by far Nepal’s most restricted trekking area. It was only opened to foreigners in 1992 and has been strictly regulated ever since.  Mustang is also known as the Dry desert of Nepal as it is situated in the monsoon shadow region beyond the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna range. This high desertic region is north of Jomsom, the headquarter of this district, Jomsom is in the lower Mustang & the major part is the upper Mustang.

It is very much different than the other trekking routes in the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal. You get chance to explore the culture, lifestyle, religion of the Himalayan people which is similar to that of the Tibetan people. This area has long been inhabited by Tibetan Buddhists and nowhere else in Nepal can such rich , untouched culture be found. Upper Mustan is opened in 1992 AD for trekking purpose.

Upper Mustang trekking  is an exploration of the concealed valleys of Mustang, The landscape of Mustang is a barren moonscape of eroded sandstone pillars and discontinuous moraine terraces, which together present a colorful mosaic made up principally of earthen reds, yellows and brown. Witness the breathtaking views from Poon Hill, experience the hot natural springs in Tatopani and encounter Tibetan traders as you trek to the pilgrimage centre of Muktinath, where Buddhists and Hindus alike make the spiritual journey.
